WIPO stands for World Intellectual Property Organization. It is a specialized agency of the United Nations based in Geneva that works to protect intellectual property worldwide.
WIPO coordinates international agreements, such as the Universal Copyright Treaty or the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT). Its aim is to facilitate the cross-border recognition and registration of intellectual property rights such as patents, trademarks, designs and copyrights through uniform rules and procedures. WIPO also promotes technological progress, innovation and fair access to intellectual property worldwide.
